Here is a little tip for split testing. Take an Ad
like this one, make some subtle changes like using a slightly
different Attention getter, or stressing a different MAIN benefit.
Then use that to split test the two together to see which one does
better. Study the winner to see why it won.

Nobody really thinks that IPC is a scam, but this seemed to be a good topic to write about. Because what happens is this. An email ad comes your way…it says something like Make $3000 in a day… We are trained to automatically think…must be a scam. That is the way we are trained. Scam is the first word that pops into our head. If we stay with the ad, and read on, it is for the purpose to disprove our first assumption that it is a scam. So I am writing this article because many, many people make that assumption.

The first thing many people will do is Google ‘is IPC a scam.’ Did you…is that why you are here? Are you looking for dirt? Well I don’t have anything to offer here, and I, like you, did the exact thing. I could not find anything either. I only found people promoting IPC. So I signed up myself. That said, I still have nothing to even come close to saying that IPC is a scam.

The Webster Dictionary defines scam as : “a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation.”

IPC is neither fraudulent or deceptive. It is exactly what it is…a package product and service, and everyone that buys it knows that. You get exactly what they say you will get. How does that constitute a scam? Leave me a comment and answer that question.

IPC is a S.C.A.M v1.0
Systematic
Course on
Advertising and
Marketing

OR

IPC is a S.C.A.M v2.0

I, however, am using version 3.0!

One last note: Every time I search for information on IPC, what I find is that more and more people every day are signing up. What does that tell you?

I had read online that Davison Design will accept and follow up on Any invention idea submission…No matter how ridiculous.

So, I decided to to put this theory to the test…(mostly for my own amusement, I must admit.)

And here be the outcome:

Idea Submision Form-(this is exactly how I filled it out.)

Idea Name:  Red Rubber Butt

Idea description:  A big Red Rubber Butt that user can strap onto their bottom, allowing user to bounce around on his/her hiney.

What inspired you to come up with this idea? :  Well…I was just sitting around meditating and contemplating belly button lint when this idea came to me. (was also listening to The Beatles White album but I don’t blame the Beatles…or credit them for this.)

After filling this form out and sending it back to Davison, would you believe that I got a call from them three days later? (me neither-But I did.)

And here’s how that call went:

    —————————

Davison Rep. : “Hello, is this Maggie?”

Me: “yep”

Davison Rep. : “Well, Maggie, this is (let’s leave the poor guys name outta this). I’m a consultant with Davison idea invention. We recently received your idea submission form for the product you call the …uh…Red Rubber Butt. We’d like to discuss this idea with you and talk about how we can help you to get this product to consumers.”

Me : “Really? So you guys are Really interested in making the Red Rubber Butt?”

Davison Rep. : “Well, Ma’am that’s why we called.”

Me : “You can’t be serious…(giggle)”

Davison Rep. : “I take my job very seriously, Ma’am. Now let’s see…from your description…sounds like the Red Rubber Butt is some kind of toy? But I could also picture some practical uses for this product.”

Me : “NO!”

Davison Rep. : “Yes; For instance…toddlers. Small children who are just beginning to walk often fall and I think this product could help to protect them.”

Me : No! (laughing)

Davison Rep. : “…Or elderly people. My Grandmother has Alzheimers…”

Me : “So sorry to hear that.”

Davison Rep. : “Thank you…anyway, as i pictured your product , I could see it being used by elderly folks, such as my Grandmother, to protect them when they fall.”

Me : (laughing hysterically at the picture of Granny wearing a Big Red Rubber Butt)

Davison Rep : “Ma’am…”

Me : “You did not…You did not think that a Big Red Rubber Butt strapped onto an elderly person was a good idea! (more laughing)”

Davison Rep. : “Ma’am. Do you know someone with Alzheimers?”

Me : “No I don’t. But it is a terrible disease.”

Davison Rep. : “Yes it is and I don’t find it funny.”

Me : “Oh I don’t find Alzheimers funny either. I’m just thinking that the Last thing someone suffering from Alzheimers needs is to endure the humiliation of having some asshole strap a huge Red Rubber Butt on them!’ (more laughing)”

Davison Rep. : “Ma’am, I really think you aren’t taking this conversation seriously.”

Me : “And I can’t believe You are.”

Davison Rep : (silence)

Me : “You know, I did some research online and it seems that your company has had many complaints.”

Davison Rep. : “Well, ma’am- I’m sure that you can look up Any company online and find complaints.”

Me : “Oh, that’s probably true. Didn’t Davison lose a big lawsuit though?”

Davison Rep. : “Yes…”

Me : “Tell you what, could I just research a bit more and call you back?”

Davison Rep. : “No.”

Me : “You can’t give me a number to call you back?”

Davison Rep. : “No. I can not.”

Me : “Why not? I’d like to investigate a bit further before I invest any money in Davison and the Red Rubber Butt.”

Davison Rep. : “Have I asked you for any money? I called to talk to you about your idea. Have I asked you for a penny?”

Me : “No, not yet…but that Is how you guys work here, right? You’ll eventually need me to invest money into the production of this thing, right?”

Davison Rep. : “Well…I can see that you are just too busy doing research on Davison to talk about your product idea.”

Me : “Sorry, but it is wise to do some research before investing. Now, if you can give me a number I’ll call you back.”

Davison Rep. : “No.”

Me : “Well…that’s unfortunte.”

Davison Rep. : “Have a good day ma’am!…(click)”

    ——————————

Well…there went my chance to make Millions selling The Red Rubber Butt to elderly folk across the world.

Sigh…see how i sabotage myself.

 I blew it….damn!

This may be old news to some of you, If so… Ok,

but I wasn’t around yet in the 60’s, so I hadn’t heard this rumor until I stumbled across it on the God blessed internet.

Being a Beatles fan ( McCartney my fav. ) and also being that I tend to become facinated with conspiracy theories-I ended up pouring over countless sites and YouTube vids dedicated to the ‘Paul is Dead’ theory. For days and days I wrapped myself up in this horrific ( Yes, Horrific! ) bit of gossip.

I looked over all the Beatles’ album clues, the lyric clues, the incriminating pre-’66 vs. post-’66 photos of Paul and I must admit that these sites can be Terrifyingly convincing. I thought I had Never heard anything more absurd than this ‘Paul is dead’ rumor….but a few websites and YouTube videos later I am almost in tears. I am starting to buy in! I am starting to think to myself, ’ My God! It could be true!’

There are, no doubt, obvious *clues* on many albums- in the pictures and in the lyrics (turn me on dead man).

It seems to me that some of these strange hints had to be intentionally placed on the albums. I’m not sure that they were placed there as clues to tell us that our Beloved Paul McCartney died. Could be The Beatles were just playing with the rumor…after all, they were very clever. Sure didn’t hurt album sales, in fact, It most likely boost album sales. Great marketing scheme-Eh?

Well, as convincing as these ‘Paul is Dead’ websites are-There are also lots of ‘Paul is Alive’ and ‘Paul’s not Dead’ websites that are equally convincing ( Thank The Good Lord!)

So, why is it that these conspiracy theories become so intriguing so absorbing?

Why are we So drawn to secrets, clues, mysteries? ~ Hmmm…That’s another mystery.

Is Paul McCartney dead? Was he replaced by a look alike named Billy?

I don’t know…furthermore, I don’t think I want to know. Sometimes ignorance Is bliss!

Long live Paul McCartney…(or Billy or William…or…whoever he is)

Starting an online business doesn’t have to be a challenge, especially when you’re equipped with the right knowledge, tools, and business planning strategy.

If you’re seriously considering starting an online business, it makes sense that you would want to choose something that’s going to do well right from the start. When you’re investing time and money in your business, it would help to know if you’re setting yourself up for failure or for success.

I recently joined The Independent Profit Center and I’m Very pleased with the results.

The training and software alone are worth your investment!

But then…

I was Amazed to find that after only 24 hours in the IPC program  I’d already had a number of sign ups and 2 sales!

The Independent Profit Center or IPC is a legitmate business opportunity! It is not MLM or affiliate marketing ; once you buy, it is your business to take control of. IPC is an amazing program created by Dan Miller that allows the average person to take part in BIG online marketing.

One of many ways to advertise on the internet.

by Ricky Brown

FFA AKA ‘Free For All’. What does that mean because I always have to pay for their service. There are some that are free to use and then if you want their really cool stuff you have to become a professional member.

Imagine a group of like minded individuals signing up for a service that will give them the ability to send out email ads to all of the like minded persons who have signed up. Well that is both good and bad. You want to market your product or service to those that will ultimately buy. If the intent, of a person signing up, is to gain knowledge of new products and services (our hopeful prospects) then, it is to our benefit to sign up too. Right? That is usually not the case. The person who signs up for an FFA program is wanting the same thing you want; more traffic to his or her website, or to push out an advert to it’s safe list.

Most FFA have provisions for different types of advertising, of which the two most common are safe lists and banner ads. The safe list is the FFAs primary selling point…Send Your Ad to ‘Some Number Here’ of opt in members. The problem with that is once you send that ad, you have managed to fill your inbox with auto-reply email ads, and your ad is most likely sitting in the junk email
folder of the recipients.

Now, only a small percentage, will be so bold to assume that you wanted to receive a bounced advertisement, but what happens to the rest (those recipients that did not have an auto-reply set up). For those, again, your ad is most likely filtered into a ‘don’t bother with’ folder or automatically deleted. The majority simply does not care about your endeavors to acquire them as a lead. So what’s the point? You will actually get a small percentage (lets assume ten percent of the whole for the sake of this article) of members will actually read your ad; Hmmm, that is just enough to be of some interest. I’ll talk more about that later.
Banner ads are another FFA possibility. You are usually allowed to place a banner ad or two on the FFA site, and the banner ad can be whatever you want. Now, the problem still is that the banner ads are, most likely, only going to be seen by users of the FFA site. The use of banner ads on FFA sites may be more effective than the safe lists.

So, is it useful? Well, sure it is…to a degree. Supposing your ad can reach ten percent of the whole then, that can be useful in a tremendous way. For most people, however, it is never realized because the content of the ad is lacking. In other words, once you get through the masses and have the attention of a potential customer, you instantly turn them off by a poorly written ad, or you shame them with your kindness by offering them the opportunity of a lifetime for your humble fee. LOL Sorry, I’m really trying to stay focused. The point I am trying to make is simple…try a more indirect approach to capture your audience. Get them to want…stop. Think about that! GET THEM TO WANT. Your ads should leave your prospects wanting what you are selling.

For Example (What would you do with this?):

Subject: Earn 10,000 in 3 days.
Body: Irresistible Link Goes Here

Done…that’s it…I have seen so many of these
pointless ads.

Well, what would you do with that? Delete it immediately. But why? The answer to that is simple, this ad only leaves me wanting to delete it. There is nothing useful in the ad at all. Even if I were so naive, there are so many ads like that to choose from, why would I choose this one? I would go eeny meeny miney mo if I were going to try out the absurd.

SO YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT YOUR TEN PERCENT!
You had your chance and muffed it. That’s all. You’re done! And your email
address has likely been placed on a ‘do not disturb’ list.

But, if you took a different approach and actually gave the reader something (e.g. leave them wanting). You have successfully acquired a lead. Once you have acquired your lead, keep in mind that at this point that is all it is, a lead. You have to do some follow through. I will talk about that in another article. For now the question of are FFAs useful, well sure, if your ads are useful.

Another way FFAs can be useful are the banner ads. Like I mentioned above, I think they are more useful than email ads simply because it is not an email that the members can delete without even looking at. It is right there, in their face, when they log in to do their business. Also, it provides a means of back-linking to your site. That process of back-linking is probably more valuable overall than the rest put together. The more links you have TO your site the better your business will do. I emphasized TO because two way link exchanges can hurt more than they help. You’ve been warned. However, one way links are good.

FFAs can be useful when used appropriately. If your goal is to acquire traffic to your site by means of email advertising through safe lists, then it is in your best interest to learn how to generate desire in your potential leads and ultimately convert them into paying customers. So if you decide to use an FFA, remember… Set your back-link banner, generate quality ads, and convert that ten percent into customers. Most FFA provide tools that can be leveraged to dramatically increase your success in writing good ads. If they don’t provide it, the internet does. There are countless books and articles on writing good ads that will leave your lead wanting to know more about what you have to offer. Not to mention that learning the art of writing good ads and articles is required learning if you want to always be able to generate an income with an internet based business.

That’s right, I’m the dumb ass that went to the store and bought the peroxide, baking soda, and Mountain Dew, just to see it glow. It did not work! After I tried it, I went online to check it out and sure enough, it was confirmed, it does not work. If you don’t know what I’m talking about check out the YouTube video.

How Cool!, I thought…add some peroxide and baking soda to Mountain Dew, shake, and presto…instant glow in the dark bottle. I tried it and nothing. I shook the bottle harder, still nothing. I tried different amounts…still nothing. It just goes to show, when we want something to work, we really want it to work. Even after I found out that it is a hoax, I still tried it a couple more times. Perhaps I have too much free time, and I love to experiment.
So I like to test things by testing I can find out what works and what doesn’t work. The best way to learn is to try something for yourself.

So, the Mountain Dew did not glow-in-the-dark, so what. I have found other cool things on the Internet that do work for example, a crystal radio that only needs some copper wire and a diode. A really cool project to pick up your local AM radio station.

Another fun project that I found on the Internet is a homemade cotton candy maker. That proved to be a little more difficult, but it did work.

All in all, I would say that I have spent a lot of time testing online promises.

Internet business opportunities are no different than the fun science projects I have found…some of them work, and some of them don’t. Some only work for certain kinds of people, and others don’t work for anyone.

It’s really easy to get caught up in the hopes that something will work. Especially when we want to believe in the grand promises that are made. But big promises do not make the system work any better, and certainly does not make the program more valuable. It only seems more valuable because of our own desire to believe that it will work.

Owning your own Internet business is a great way to make money, but don’t expect that you can just plug in a website and money will start falling out of the sky at you. You are delusional if you think that way; however, if you are willing to work at it, then it is a most excellent way to earn money. It will take some time and persistance on your part. I have been at it for over 5 years now.

The Good
Effective use of email based advertising is still one of the greatest ways to advertise your business. But, you have to do it right. So what is the right way? Quality ads sent through double opt-in lists are GOOD.

The Bad
You have your double opt-in list ready to go, and you send an un-desirable ad. That is BAD. If you take the approach of the BAD, you won’t loose your website, or get sued, but you won’t make money either. So, what’s the point? To make money is the idea of being successful in your business; right?

The Ugly
You don’t bother with a safe list at all, and your ads are bad. This approach can get very UGLY. I will not drag this out, it is really quite simple. If you want to email ads to people, it is ultimately best to play by the rules. If you take the approach of the UGLY, you will most likely loose your website, affiliate membership, and could possibly get sued. That sounds ugly doesn’t it.

The Good
This approach will take you far in your internet business endeavors, and you can repeat it as much as you like without any repercussions. If you are trying to brand your company’s name, as you should be, repercussions like down time and name changes are detrimental to your business. It pretty much kills your business, and you are stuck with starting over and hopefully learning from your mistakes. That is the way I learned, from my experience. So I am passing on my experience to you…all of it…the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I cannot stress enough the importance of writing good ads. If you are in it for the long haul, take my advice, learn how to invoke desire in your potential customers. They will want to know more about what you are selling, and then, your potential customers convert to leads, and with appropriate follow-through, your leads convert to paying customers, and that absolutely leads to a return on your investment.

Who is the most popular out of this list: Microsoft Network(MSN), Yahoo, Google, eBay, MySpace, YouTube, or Amazon?

According to Nielsen Net Ratings (http://www.nielsen-netratings.com) monthly top 10 parent companies…

  1. Google
  2. Microsoft
  3. Yahoo
  4. Time Warner
  5. eBay
  6. News Corp. Online
  7. InterActiveCorp
  8. Amazon
  9. Wikimedia Foundation
  10. New York Times Company

Another great traffic indicator is Alexa.com. Alexa has the following as top 10 in the United States:

  1. Google
  2. Yahoo!
  3. Myspace
  4. YouTube
  5. Facebook
  6. Windows Live
  7. Microsoft Network (MSN)
  8. EBay
  9. Wikipedia
  10. AOL

Now that looks more like what I expected to see.

I did a test on popularity of keywords geared towards these companies using Google’s keyword search tool. Based on this experiment I discovered:

The keyword search is on the following keywords: msn, myspace, yahoo, google, ebay, youtube, and amazon; you can see that MySpace is in the lead, followed by Yahoo.

search engine marketing

A keyword search is not traffic, but is an indicator of popularity. I made an assumption that I could get a popularity indicator based on the main keywords: google, myspace, etc… I did this because I noticed that people search for sites they already know the URL to.

Ever notice how people navigate to a site. They go to google first and then type in myspace or yahoo or whatever they want, and wait for the first listing on Google’s search results page…then click on the link to get there. I have often asked the question…why don’t you just type the URL in the address bar? myspace.com (then hit enter)…so much easier to me, but when I ask; WOW the looks I get. A reasonable question I think, but it’s not their way, and that’s that. Anyway, I always just type in the URL, but then again, I am a programmer, and can type 70 WPM. As if that really matters.

This is just an observation that I found interesting and based on the keyword search for the main internet sites…it would seem to be the case. Of course, there is one issue with this find…Google. Google does not get included in the numbers here because, well duh, they go to Google first, or have Google as their home page.

To summarize…Google is the number one site by a large margin, followed by Yahoo, MySpace, YouTube, and eBay. Those are the TOP FIVE in my opinion, but of course you knew that.

So what? Well knowing who is in the top, and who is coming up is important knowledge in your marketing and advertising efforts. Don’t you think?

If you use PPC advertising then Google.
If you send ads to groups then Yahoo.
If you use videos to demonstrate things then YouTube.
If you sell books then Amazon.
If you are into music then MySpace.
etc…

You get the idea!

Knowing how people navigate is also important. The internet marketing and advertising world revolves around keywords and content, and the marriage of the two. A person browsing is likely to type in words they know will give them what they want. ‘WHAT THEY WANT,’ not what you want them to have. Every day that passes people are getting better at instantly weeding out what pertains to their search and what does not. So, cheesy manipulation tactics won’t last for long.

Thanks for reading my article! My name is Rick Brown. I have been successful at internet marketing and advertising for more than 5 years now. I’ve tried a lot of programs, and I know what works and what doesn’t. And better, what costs money and what is free. There is money to be made, but it requires effort and initiative on your part. Everything I have learned about writing good ads has revolved around a couple of main ideas. One is to focus your writing on the benefits not the features. The second is to tap into the readers emotions to create desire. Desire to learn more about your product or service. Desire to buy your product or service.

Step 1: Set the Tone
Decide what kind of ad you want to write. Funny, serious, gift ad,  or a scare tactic ad. Decide this first and try to keep this tone throughout your ad.

A Funny Example:
——————————————
Subject: Did your butt just fall off? Mine Did!

Body:
Oh it’s true…I had to pick my butt up off the floor and throw it away. It weighed 40 lbs.

——————————————

Or, you could write a serious ad like this:
Subject: Learn How To Make Money Online?

Step 2: Make a Ranked Features List
Make a list of 5 features of your product or service. Create as many as you can, and then pick the best 5. Then rank these 5 in order of importance. Make number 1 the most important and number 5 least important.

Step 3: Convert Your Features to Benefits
Convert the features list from step 2 into 5 benefit statements.  For example; ‘24 Email Ads’ would become ‘Save Time by using the Ready-Made Ads.’  Another Example; ‘Video Training’ becomes ‘Learn the easy way with the step-by-step video training.’

You will use the benefit statements, not the features list in your ad. Keep the benefit statements in the same order as the features they describe.

Step 4 Write Your Attention-Getter!
Select the greatest benefit…the number one benefit from step 3. The rest of the ad will highlight this singular benefit, and reinforce it. Using this number one item; Write the Attention Getter. This will be used in the Subject Line of your email ad or Heading of a solo ad. For now just select one of the following list from Brian Clark’s ‘10 Sure-Fire Headline Formulas That Work‘:

1. Who Else Wants [blank]?
2. The Secret of [blank]
3. Here is a Method That is Helping [blank] to [blank]
4. Little Known Ways to [blank]
5. Get Rid of [problem] Once and For All
6. Here’s a Quick Way to [solve a problem]
7. Now You Can Have [something desirable] [great circumstance]
8. [Do something] like [world-class example]
9. Have a [or] Build a [blank] You Can Be Proud Of
10. What Everybody Ought to Know About [blank]

You fill in the bracketed variables! Once you start grasping the idea of attention getters, you can write your own. But, if you do decide to write your own, don’t forget to test them for success.

Step 5: Build Interest
Begin the body of your ad by immediately reinforce your main benefit you stated in your attention-getter to strengthen their interest to read on. There are several ways to do this, my favorite is to: Pose more specific questions to lead the reader closer to the answer. But don’t answer yet. This will do two things spark desire, and invoke the reader to read on.

Step 6: Build Desire
You’ve got their attention and interest at this point, now you are working on building desire to participate in your offer. If you are successful here, you reader will take further action.

Step 7: The Sales Pitch
Strengthen their desire with more benefits. Use the benefits numbers 2-4 in step 3. You can elaborate a little here, but keep this as a LIST of benefits.

Also, Include these important parts here:

Make it a BARGAIN.
Make it RISK FREE.
Make it URGENT.

This will lead up to the next step

Step 8: The Call To Action
This is where you ask the reader to do something. Examples: Visit my website to [benefit here], Go here to [benefit here], Read my blog to [benefit here], etc… you get the idea! You fill in the benefit parts, and your writing portion is almost complete.

Step 9: Proofing
Next use spell check, check your grammar and punctuation, make sure you stayed on the tone you specified in step 1, identify all the parts and make sure you have covered all the bases.

A-Attention
I-Interest
D-Desire
A-Action

If all is well, save your ad, then publish or send to your email list.

Step 10: TESTING
You cannot test with one ad, so once you have two or more ads you can split-test your ads. This is as simple process of comparing the results one ad has over another. Take the one that gets the most responses, study it’s comparison with the less popular ad, and then write a third ad and compare results with the winner of the first two. Repeat this process many times, and the end result is REALLY GOOD ADS!

Study the difference between ads that do really well and ones that do not. Let me know what you find by posting comments.

All-in-all, you owe it to your self to learn these steps required to write good, successful, ads. The success or failure depends on your willingness to improve your ad writing skills.
